Saatchi & Saatchi truly broke new ground this spring by persuading The
Independent to allow it to manipulate the paper’s editorial for
advertising purposes. In a bid to echo the disruption caused by MS, the
agency scrambled an entire page of foreign news editorial, following it
with the original page and a reveal for the MS Society. The impact of
the stunt was enhanced further by being featured on both BBC Breakfast
News and Sky News, effectively doubling the advertisement’s exposure. An
inspirational idea producing a true media first.
CHANNEL 5
You have to respect the gall of Walker Media which used the BBC’s own
football coverage to promote a rival match appearing simultaneously on
Channel 5. By buying revolving perimeter sites C5 successfully persuaded
92,000 viewers to switch from the BBC match.
VANISH STAIN REMOVAL AND MONICA LEWINSKY
BMP OMD’s quick media buying and eye for a stunt generated extensive
amounts of PR, and an estimated 10 million sniggering viewers, for
Benckiser’s Vanish In Wash Stain Remover slot during Channel Four’s
Equinox interview in which Jon Snow quizzed Monica Lewinsky about her
infamously stained dress.
