Media: The BBC makes two appointments

The BBC has hired two people to fill the gap left by its children's BBC controller, Alison Sharman, who has defected to ITV. The CBBC chief operating officer, Richard Deverel, has been appointed the new controller of BBC Children's, formerly CBBC. In a simultaneous move, Anne Gilchrist, currently the executive editor, independents and events in the same department, takes on the new role of creative director, BBC Children's.
