BCMB, chooses the Wales Tourist Board’s unusual approach to outdoor

media.

’I was at the Travel Show at G-Mex in Manchester when I happened across

a pavement artist lying on the floor, painstakingly recreating a

landscape of a castle in Wales, with the headline: ’Truly inspirational

scenery is just two hours away.’ This scene was tied to a postcard which

gave people a chance to enter a competition, as well as directing them

to the Wales Tourism stand.

’It was good to see use of a new medium continuing the ideas of an

original campaign. Following such award-winning exploits as graffiti-ing

the message on to the back of a lorry or getting road repair men to wear

it on their jackets must have been tough, but this stunt shows that

original thinking is still behind the Wales campaign.’
