QUEST FOR THE RING; Channel 4/30 April/7.15pm; Documentary following the making of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Followed by the premiere of the first of the films.

THE SIMPSONS; Sky One/1 May/6.30pm; A new episode of the classic cartoon comedy. Marge's sister Selma faces the menopause and decides to adopt a Chinese baby with Homer's help.

RIDDLE OF THE HUMAN HOBBITS; Channel 4/2 May/9pm; Scientists excavate a remote island in Indonesia and dig up a collection of small bones - they find that they've discovered a new species of human, apparently not unlike the hobbits in Lord of the Rings.

PARADISE HOTEL; Living TV2/2 May/10pm; Six single women and five single men check into a resort in Acapulco ready to romance each other over the course of a week.

THE APPRENTICE; BBC2/4 May/9pm; The final episode of the Alan Sugar series, in which he finally reveals "who's hired" by offering the winner a six-figure salary to work with him flogging set-top boxes.

THE ROBINSONS; BBC2/5 May/9.30pm; Martin Freeman from The Office stars in a dark comedy about a brother and sister in a dysfunctional family.

BREMNER, BIRD AND FORTUNE; Channel 4/5 May/10.40pm; Political satire on the night of the general election. A comic curtain-raiser for those who still care who wins.

INTERACTIVE PICK; Sky channels and Sky Active; Sky has launched an innovative use of TV interactivity: Sky Card, the first interactive credit card to work in the Sky Box (and which is also a loyalty card). The TV ads take viewers to an interactive area to find out more and request an information pack - viewers can also get up to speed at Sky Active by going to the A to Z section. Customers can check their balance, make payments and manage credit-card transactions.
