Eleanor Trickett chooses Channel 4’s advertising for its TV show

Big Brother.

’It seems odd to pick out one piece of Big Brother advertising, given

that any British residents still unaware of the Channel 4 show must have

been hiding out in a cave for the past few months. The show’s hype

climaxed with a deluge of press coverage this weekend, with the tabloids

smacking their lips at the prospect of a nation glued to images of naked

wannabes cavorting around. In an uncharacteristically prudish fit, I

find all this shameless voyeurism a bit off-putting, and this clever

piece of strategy provides a nice antidote.

’Using stickers to point out the scary number of secret cameras that

surround us is a timely reminder that our privacy isn’t as sacred as we

think. More thought-provoking than the rest of the coverage put

together, it left me thinking that this programme might have a serious

point after all.’
