Media News: Bauer increases price of TV guide

The battle of the premium TV listings magazines has gathered pace following Bauer's decision this week to raise the price of Total TV Guide by 5p to 95p.

Rival magazines Radio Times and IPC's TV Times increased their prices to 95p and 85p respectively last month.

A price war in the value sector of the listings market erupted when IPC launched TV Easy in May to complement its What's on TV magazine and to compete with Bauer's TV Choice and TV Quick.

The success of TV Easy, which was backed by a £10m war chest, led to Bauer cutting its prices. TV Choice's year-on-year circulation rose 6.9% to 1.16m last month, but TV Quick's circulation fell 11% to 313,000.
