MediaCom leads Thinkbox TV Planning Awards shortlist

LONDON - MediaCom leads the pack of shortlisted agencies in this year's Thinkbox TV Planning Awards, held on 22 June and run in association with Campaign and MediaWeek.co.uk.

The agency has three nominations, while Mediaedge:cia, Starcom MediaVest, OMD UK, Edwards Groom Saunders and Carat each have two.

In the Best Ongoing Use of TV category, MediaCom is shortlisted for Sky, Starcom MediaVest for Ginster's and OMD for McDonald's.

Best Newcomer includes Carat for Shop Direct, Media­Com for Laterooms.com and EGS for Pets at Home. Best Sponsorship includes Carat for Mattel, Starcom Media­Vest for Philadelphia and OMD UK for Waterstone's.

In Best Use of TV Innovation, MEC's work for Orange, Manning Gottlieb OMD's for Lastminute.com, Zenith­Optimedia's for O2 and PHD and Drum PHD's for The X Factor/Sainsbury's tie-up are all shortlisted.

The Thinkbox TV planning awards judges include Jeremy Found, head of media at the COI, Robert Ffitch managing director of MG/OMD and Kelly Williams, head of sales at Five. The chairman of the judges is Tess Alps, chief executive of Thinkbox.

Alps said: "This year it proved very difficult to whittle the entries down to this final shortlist. We have had another record year for entries and the quality has been excellent; full of brilliant ideas about how to use today's TV. We must thank all our judges for their efforts and all the entrants for demonstrating such excellent and inspiring TV planning."
