MEC battled Manning Gottlieb OMD to the business in a pitch called by the DoH in May this year and managed by the COI.

The department called an advertising pitch at the same time but this has been delayed.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Delaney Lund Knox Warren and Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy are all shortlisted for the ad account.

The three-year campaign will advise the public on the symptoms of strokes and encourage calls to the emergency services.

It is part of a government strategy, launched last December, which aims to reduce the death rate from strokes and coronary heart disease by at least 40 per cent by 2010.
