- Adrian Birchall, chairman of MediaVest UK, is retiring at the end of the year.
Birchall, who took on the job in May when the Starcom MediaVest Group was formed, will not be replaced as chairman. Jim Marshall will continue as chief executive.
Birchall founded The Media Centre in 1991. It changed its name to MediaVest, the name of the network's US operation, six years later.
He said: "I am very proud of what we were able to achieve in the early days of The Media Centre and later at MediaVest UK and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It has been very exciting to be involved with the merger of MediaVest and Starcom to create the Starcom MediaVest Group, one of the biggest media companies in the world."
He joined Lintas London in 1969 as a media researcher. He went on to become media director at BBDO London before joining D'Arcy in 1986 as media director and vice chairman. Having founded The Media Centre five years later, he became president of MediaVest EMEA in 1997.
Kevin Malloy, chief executive of international operations for Starcom MediaVest, said: "Over the course of his longstanding career, Adrian has made significant contributions both to the industry and to our media operations around the world."
