MediaVest has been appointed to carry out media planning and buying for the UK launch of Star TV, Rupert Murdoch's Asian broadcasting subsidiary, from January.
Star TV will launch with two channels, Star Plus and Star News, through its sister company British Sky Broadcasting. Both channels will target Indian and Asian communities in the UK. Media strategy is to be finalised.
Lisa Srao, the vice-president of sales and marketing for Star TV in the UK, said: 'MediaVest has demonstrated a deep understanding of what we need to achieve and, more importantly, it understands how to get the message across to the Asian consumers in the UK.'
MindShare was appointed in the summer as a global media consultant for Star TV to provide media planning, buying and consulting.
Star TV distributes cable and satellite services in seven languages to more than 300 million viewers in Asia.
