UBS, one of Europe’s biggest banks, is talking to agencies about a

pounds 30 million pan-European advertising project.

The secret project is thought to involve the launch of a major online

financial service.

The bank, the result of a merger last year between Union Bank of

Switzerland and Swiss Bank Corporation, has said that being able to

offer consumers easy access to accounts and share information is a key

priority.

Next month it launches an internet share service which will allow

domestic and foreign stock exchange orders to be placed and processed

online on six stock exchanges.

It is also extending its range of 24-hour banking services to allow even

relatively inexperienced internet users to handle all of their banking

needs.

UBS is using the services of an IBM consultant to develop its online

offers. Several international networks have been approached about the

account, which is being handled from UBS’s Swiss headquarters.

Publicis was appointed to handle the pounds 25 million worldwide account

last year after a joint pitch from its London and Zurich offices.

It is not known whether the agency is involved in the new project.
