Nissan is set to centralise its entire European media planning and
buying into a newly formed unit, TBWA.OMD, represented in the UK by
Manning Gottlieb Media.
Carat UK has lost the pounds 25 million UK business, which it had held
since the incumbent Eurospace, a joint venture between Carat and TBWA,
folded in January 1998.
TBWA.OMD is expected to handle all the major European markets, with a
budget of more than pounds 125 million.
Nissan is the second automotive account the Carat group has relinquished
in the last six months. BBJ Media Services, a subsidiary of the group,
lost Volkswagen-Audi’s pounds 80 million planning and buying task for
the UK and Germany to MediaCom TMB in August last year.
