Davies has been working at Trader Media as a consultant since the start of this year and before this was commercial director at Independent News and Media for a year.
Prior to his Independent role he worked at Associated Newspapers for over eight years as the sales director for the Mail on Sunday.
Reporting to Andy Hart, Davies will be in charge of display sales in the A&O division, overseeing agency and client direct sales, as well as custom solutions.
His appointment comes after Microsoft underwent a global reorganisation to create an enlarged advertising and online division, incorporating its search engine Bing for the first time, alongside its MSN portal and other digital properties such as Hotmail and Messenger.
The restructure saw the appointment of Andy Hart, a former MD of Associated Northcliffe Digital to head up A&O as revealed by Media Week. Ashley Highfield, who led A&O before the restructure left the company later in the summer to join Johnston Press as its chief executive.
