FCA! is naming its third agency head in six months, with the

appointment of Mike Wade as deputy chairman.

The appointment follows the departure of chief executive, Mike Croft, to

’pursue strategic opportunities within the Publicis group’. Croft left

shortly before Christmas.

Wade, who was a senior planner at Publicis, will report to Rick Bendel,

the FCA! chairman.

Samantha Smith, FCA!’s managing director, said: ’Mike Croft was a very

focused business planner and it was becoming more and more apparent that

we need someone who is a heavyweight strategic communications planner.

Mike Wade is exactly that. He’s been in the business for a long

time.’

Croft took up his former role amid a restructure of Publicis’

below-the-line operations, joining FCA! as a result of its merger with

his agency, Publicis Technology. His arrival signalled the departure of

the chairman, Chris Parry, who was moved into Publicis Dialog, which he

has now left.

It is not known if Croft has a role within the Publicis Group, although

Smith said that he was ’having lots of conversations’. It is known that

there was tension between him and Bendel, although there is no

suggestion that this was behind the move.
