- Judith Keppel's triumph on ITV's Who Wants to be a Millionaire last night won the ratings battle against BBC1's final episode of One Foot in the Grave.

Keppel was the first contestant to scoop the show's £1 million jackpot and the spectacle drew and average audience of 13.9 million. The death of the grumpy Victor Meldrew, played by Richard Wilson, attracted about 10.7 million viewers.

ITV has denied accusations that it made the questions on the quiz easier in order to attract a large audience lured in by Keppel's £1 million win.
