MindShare new-business chief Janine Abrahams quits agency

MindShare’s marketing director and head of new business, Janine

Abrahams, has left the media agency without a job to go to.

Simon Rees, MindShare’s managing director, said Abrahams had quit a

fortnight ago, but refused to confirm that he was looking for a new

marketing director.

He said: ’I’m working through what to do next. New business and

marketing are an important part of this company and we will be handling

it a different way. The marketing side is my responsibility and, if

anything, I will up the ante on it.’

Sean Beynon, MindShare’s marketing manager, will now take responsibility

for new business.

Abrahams was heavily involved in the launch of MindShare, which was born

out of the merger of J. Walter Thompson’s and Ogilvy & Mather’s media

divisions. Abrahams joined JWT as a graduate trainee, and was group

media director on Nestle before her appointment as marketing director in

November 1997.

This year a number of senior staff have left MindShare, including Bill

Kinlay, its commercial director, who set up MindShare in Ireland; the

press director, Paul Mukherjee, who joined Wieden & Kennedy in

Amsterdam; and Steve Cleak, the agency’s worldwide account director for

Unilever, who quit in May to head Initiative Media’s international media

operation.

Abrahams was unavailable for comment as Campaign went to press.
