Phil Cowdell, the group media account director on MediaVest's Procter & Gamble account, has been poached by MindShare to head the European account for Unilever.
It is understood that Cowdell will work on Unilever alongside Nick Kelvin, who heads MindShare's global Unilever business. In Europe, MindShare holds the business for Unilever in Italy, Germany and across various countries in South Central Europe.
No-one at MediaVest or MindShare was available for comment on the appointment as Campaign went to press. It is understood that Cowdell left MediaVest at the beginning of this week.
His appointment is a significant move by MindShare, which has been steadily accruing Unilever's media business around the world. Last year, the agency won the centralised media account for Unilever's US business in a pitch against Initiative Media Worldwide and OMD.
