- The Ministry of Sound has acquired Hip Hop Connection magazine for an undisclosed sum. It will publish the title alongside its existing dance and lifestyle title, Ministry.
The acquisition of Hip Hop Connection sees the natural progression from House to Hip Hop and continues the expansion plans of the brand that began life as a South London club in 1991.
The Ministry of Sound will focus on delivering an increase in the production budget, greater editorial emphasis on lifestyle coverage and increased scope of advertisers.
Andy Cowan, the existing editor, will remain at the helm of the title and will be relocated to the Ministry of Sound offices. Based at Ministry of Sound, the magazine will benefit from marketing opportunities offered by Ministry of Sound recordings, touring, internet and sponsorship. Equally, Ministry of Sound will be able to draw on Hip Hop Connection's relationship to the Hip Hop scene.
