Mitchell climbs to deputy managing director at WWAV

WWAV Rapp Collins Media has appointed Peter Mitchell its first deputy managing director.

WWAV Rapp Collins Media has appointed Peter Mitchell its first

deputy managing director.

Mitchell will deputise for Mike Colling, who will remain at the agency

but is spending an increasing amount of time working in his other

capacity as chief executive of the agency’s new venture, WWAV

Digital.

Colling said WWAV Digital, combined with a growth in business, meant the

job of managing director could no longer be done by one person.

Mitchell will continue to oversee the clients he previously handled at

WWAV, including Capital One and the recently won Fotango contract (Media

Business 10 July).

Colling said Mitchell would also have greater responsibility across all

of the agency’s clients, and would act as ’quality control’ across the

business.

He also revealed other senior promotions were imminent, adding: ’We are

always looking for talented people.’ Mitchell will be responsible for

senior recruitment.

Mitchell started his career in 1987, working in media sales at United

Newspapers and IPC Magazines. He joined WWAV Media, a division of the

direct marketing agency WWAV Rapp Collins, in 1990 as a manager. He then

moved to Mansfield Lang Direct Media.

In 1996 he was recruited to set up Optimedia’s direct media operation as

managing director, before rejoining WWAV in 1997 as the director

responsible for all media-only business.
