She replaces Will Orr, who left the company to join WCRS as its managing director last week.
Dobbie joins from the Australian fashion retailer Country Road, where she was the head of marketing from June 2002 to January this year.
Dobbie began her career as a graduate trainee at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles before joining Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow Johnson as an account manager in 1991. She was the ad director of Nike UK from 1995 to 1999, during which time she led the Nike Town London launch, initiated the "parklife" campaign and managed the pitch for the UK creative account, won by Wieden & Kennedy London.
At Country Road, she oversaw its relaunch and rebrand in Australia and New Zealand.
Dobbie will join the strategy team and work with Dylan Williams, Andy Bellas, Iain Newton and Sophie Spence. Boots, her primary focus, is understood to be refreshing its brand later in the year.
Mother has also picked up the Pret a Manger account and will assist with the chain's brand identity and in-store marketing efforts, with the possibility of developing a press and radio campaign.
