Movers: Appointment at FT.com

FT.com has promoted Ien Cheng (pictured) to become its publisher and managing editor. Cheng, currently the publisher of FTchinese.com, starts his new job in August.

In his new role, he will report to John Ridding, the chief executive of the Financial Times and sit on the title's management board.

On editorial issues, he will report to Lionel Barber, the editor of the FT, and work closely with James Montgomery, the editor of FT.com. As a result of Cheng's promotion, Nigel Pocklington, the director of online publishing and the commercial head of FT.com, is moving to an FT Group strategy role.
