Spencer McHugh, EE's long-serving brand director, is to leave the business at the end of July. McHugh has said he will take some time to consider his next move, while EE will make an announcement on his replacement next week. McHugh joined Orange in 2003 as head of digital and direct marketing, becoming marketing director in 2009.
Chris Clark, the global head of marketing and corporate sustainability at HSBC, is set to leave the banking giant. The marketer and former Saatchi & Saatchi adman has been at the bank for 15 years, having joined as head of brand strategy and taking up his current global role in 2010.
Taylors of Harrogate has promoted Dom Dwight to the role of marketing director. Formerly the head of brand creative, Dwight succeeds Simon Eyles who recently moved to take up the managing director position at Taylors' sister company, Bettys. Dwight is a former journalist and editor turned brand communications specialist and has been at Taylors of Harrogate for eight years.
Steve Mills has joined Havas London as chief operating officer, reporting to chief executive Xavier Rees. Mills was previously at We Are Fred, which he founded 18 months ago. Before this, he was UK head of operations for Bartle Bogle Hegarty London.
Sarah Lent, executive director for business development at Interbrand London, has joined R/GA London as executive director for growth across EMEA. She will manage business development and growth strategies for existing and new clients, as well as helping the agency grow across the region.
Emma Springham, ex-head of marketing at RBS, has joined Royal Mail as head of marketing and channels at its MarketReach division. She was previously head of marketing (commercial and business banking) at RBS and a senior product and digital marketing head at Barclays.
House of Fraser has named M&S’s director of digital David Walmsley as chief customer officer following the departure of Andy Harding last month. Walmsley has also worked at Dixons Retail Group and John Lewis. He will report to Nigel Oddy, the chief executive officer.
Karl Marsden, one of the original founders of Shortlist Media, is leaving the company after nine years. A former IPC executive, Marsden is one of the original team of senior executives who launched the publisher of ShortList and Stylist in 2007. He began as the company’s managing director before becoming chief operating officer last year. As the director responsible for commercial performance, Marsden is credited with growing the company’s revenues from startup to in excess of £26m last year.
Momentum Worldwide has appointed Dean Taylor, formerly head of retention and customer insight at Virgin Active, to the newly created role of director of creative strategy. Reporting into Luke D’Arcy, Momentum Worldwide’s UK president, Taylor will oversee Momentum Worldwide’s team of planners and digital strategists across the London and Manchester offices. He will be responsible for global and UK clients such as American Express, Coca-Cola, Asda and Microsoft.
Matthew Dearden, Clear Channel Outdoor’s president, Europe, has been appointed president of Fepe International, the worldwide association of outdoor advertising companies. Among his duties, Dearden will be responsible for chairing the Fepe board, comprised of senior executives from the global out-of-home industry.
Geometry Global has appointed Fadi Shuman as the agency’s global chief digital officer. Fadi will report to global CEO Steve Harding and will sit on the global executive committee. Fadi joins from global e-commerce agency Born where he was co-founder, chief creative and commerce officer.
Somethin’ Else has confirmed the appointment to their board of Thinkbox CEO Lindsey Clay as a non-executive director. Clay previously held senior roles with JWT and McCann Erickson before joining Thinkbox in 2007. She is also the out-going president of Women in Advertising and Communications London (WACL).
Somethin’ Else has also announced that founder Jez Nelson will take on the formal role of chief creative officer alongside his duties as chief executive, a role he has held since 2009.

Goodstuff has hired MEC’s Amelia Ross and Alicia Michael as group account directors reporting into business directors Laura Moorcraft and Sam Drake. At MEC Ross held the role of communications planning director working across accounts including Vodafone, Johnson & Johnson and Halifax. Ross will work on the House of Fraser account as well as the ITV business, which Goodstuff won in April following a competitive pitch. Michael will work on accounts including Hiscox.
Scott Ross, chief technology officer, UK at DigitasLBi, has taken on a global remit. In the newly created role of chief technology officer, international, Ross will make sure there is a consistent technology offering in its international markets. He will also focus on "developing its data and technology proposition" and help international clients with "transformational technology solutions".
