Movers and shakers: Facebook, Cheil, Crispin Porter, Publicis, CHI and more

Cheil London has promoted Russell Schaller to the role of executive creative director, replacing Caitlin Ryan (above) who is leaving to take a new role at Facebook. Ryan is joining Facebook as regional director for its Creative Shop, EMEA. She will start her new role in late March next year. She is replacing Rob Newlan who left earlier this year to join Vice Media's creative agency.

Crispin Porter & Bogusky London has filled its vacant leadership positions by bringing in Bartle Bogle Hegarty's Helen James as managing director and Dan Watts from 4Creative as chief creative officer. The shop has been leaderless since former chief creative officer Dave Buonaguidi, director of operations Arjun Singh, and chief executive Richard Pinder left earlier this year. Watts joined 4Creative as head of creative last August after 18 months as creative director at CHI & Partners. Before that, he spent nine years at Fallon. James joined BBH ten years ago as strategic business lead, becoming managing partner in 2014. Since last November she has led BBH Live, the agency’s social media unit.

Cannes Lions chairman Terry Savage will be moving on after the 2018 event ends, marking the end of a 33-year spell with the organisation. Savage said his focus for the next six months would be on making the revised 2018 festival a success and would not reveal any future plans.

Publicis UK has continued its recent spate of senior appointments by hiring Tim Bath from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Ben Joyce from Jaguar Land Rover. Tim Bath, previously director of creative operations at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, joins Publicis London as head of creative operations. Meanwhile, Ben Joyce, formerly Jaguar Land Rover’s global head of digital products, becomes head of delivery and operations at Poke. Both men will report to Nick Farnhill, chief executive of Publicis London and Poke.

CHI & Partners has poached creative team Jo Griffin and Tom Dixon from WCRS. The duo was responsible for NHS Blood and Transplant’s award-winning "Missing type" campaign in 2016, which scooped prizes at Cannes Lions, D&AD and the Campaign Big Awards. During their three years at WCRS they also created campaigns for clients including Churchill, Sky Cinema, E-ON and B&Q. At CHI they will work on accounts such as Argos, TalkTalk, McVities, News UK, British Gas, Toyota and Lexus.
