The Bespoke Agency has appointed Sadie Paris as account executive.
Paris previously worked for Vogue, and before that for Current Science
Publishing, where she was an editorial assistant on Current Drugs and
Fast Alert.
The Danone Group has appointed Marc Mathieu as managing director of
Premier Waters, a UK subsidiary that markets Evian and Volvic mineral
waters. Mathieu has worked with the Danone Group since 1983. In 1992 he
was appointed director of marketing and new projects in the East Asia
corporate development team and from the beginning of 1995 he was project
director.
Pippa Bunce has left PurchasePoint Communications to join the account
management team at Marketing Matters. She has more than ten years of
marketing experience gained at Abbey Life, Aspen Direct and
PurchasePoint.
Thain Coventry has been appointed advertising and promotions manager
at Spar in Harrow. He was previously a member of the central office
retail development team and was retail development manager with
responsibilities for implementing new store formats in Northern areas of
the UK. Coventry joined Spar in 1991 as a development executive.
He began his career as a graduate trainee with Asda.
Judith Robinson has been promoted to the post of marketing director at
the customer loyalty company, Air Miles, replacing Stephen Taylor who is
leaving to join Safeway as electronic relationship marketing controller.
Robinson, who has been with the company for 18 months, was marketing
manager with special responsibility for collector communications. Before
joining Air Miles, she was client services director at the direct
marketing agency, DDM, and account director at WWAV before that.
She also gained valuable experience at Centrefile, the computer bureau
subsidiary of NatWest Bank, and with Ravey Street Advertising.
Dean Wheeler has been appointed director for on-air promotions and
presentations for the Sci-Fi Channel Europe. He is currently executive
director of Media Mechanics, the international broadcast consultant.
Wheeler was previously senior promotions producer for BSkyB and director
of presentations at Turner Broadcasting. Wheeler has worked for clients
such as Television New Zealand, Network 10 Australia and TV3
Broadcasting Group, Sweden. The Sci-Fi Channel Europe has also appointed
Michele Hickford as vice-president, marketing.
Hickford previously served as vice-president for marketing and research,
at Turner International Network Sales, where she was responsible for
marketing TNT, CNN International, the Cartoon Network and CNN Text. In
1990 Hickford joined W. H. Smith Television with responsibilities for
the marketing of the Lifestyle Channel in the UK and Scandinavia, and
for the Satellite Jukebox. In 1992 she was made head of marketing and PR
for the European Sports Network (including Screensport, Sportnet and
Sportkanal). Before moving to the UK, Hickford was a copywriter at Foote
Cone and Belding in Los Angeles, where she won two Communications Arts
Awards for Excellence for her work on Sunkist fruit.
IMI Waterheating, a manufacturer of water storage systems, has appointed
Ian Crowther sales and marketing director. Formerly sales director with
Pilkingtons Tiles, he managed its UK sales operation and product range
for four years.
Previously he was with Forbo-Naim as national accounts sales manager and
general sales manager.
Adam Novak has been appointed director and general manager of the Royal
Mail strategic business unit. He was previously director, marketing and
sales for Royal Mail’s international division. Novak will be responsible
for strategy, and for developing and marketing products and services. He
joined Royal Mail in 1991, after a career in marketing, sales and
distribution with companies including Johnson Wax, Caradon and Rowntree
Mackintosh.
Manchester Airport has appointed Tim McDermott as head of marketing
within the business development directorate. He will be responsible for
managing research, market analysis, aviation pricing, branding and
marketing services.
He joined Manchester Airport in 1990 as the senior aviation analyst
within the marketing directorate. For the past two years he has worked
in the customer services directorate as business manager, car parks.
McDermott was previously with Thomson Holidays.
Scottish Radio Network Sales has appointed Wendy Smith as its research
manager based at Radio Clyde in Glasgow, to represent Clyde, Forth,
Northsound, Tay and Borders. Smith previously spent six years as
marketing manager at the Press and Journal.
