Media 21, the specialist interactive agency, has doubled the size of its media department following a number of new-business wins. Amy Lennox joins from Organic, Leander D’Arcy joins from Modem Media Poppe Tyson and Katie Eyton joins from Zenith. The other recruits are Duncan Owen from BJK&E, Angelina Demitri from New PHD, Chris Gilbody from The Word and Lisa McCracken from MediaVest. All come in as media planner/buyers. Media 21 has picked up accounts from QXL, 365 Corporation, Chateau Online and uTravel.

Yasser Hussain, account executive at Emap Construct, has taken a new

position as planner/buyer at Primary Contacts, a division of Ogilvy &

Mather. Hussain, who has spent 14 months at Emap Construct, takes up his

new role on 7 April. He will report to media director Clare Butcher.





Virgin Radio Sales has promoted agency sales executives Vicki Connerty

and Jael Soards to senior agency sales executives. Soards joined Virgin

in July 1998 from Carlton as a sales executive. Connerty joined from

Chrysalis in May 1998 as a sales planner, but has been a sales executive

since last May. Virgin has also taken on Emily Williams, who joins from

Sky as an agency sales planner, plus Lizzie Bazalgette from Granada

Mediasales, and Michael Holt from CCD, who come on board as client

account managers.





Chris Brinkworth, interactive planner/buyer at Outrider UK, a division

of CIA Medianetwork, has left the agency and taken a job at Sydney-based

online media agency Emitch. Outrider has recently recruited Ben Poole as

senior planner/buyer.





The Independent has promoted two members of its classified sales team.

Cassy Anyiam moves from her present position as telephone sales

executive to become team leader of the finance category. Roz Matchett,

also telephone sales executive in the finance category, takes up a new

role as senior sales executive on the education team. Anyiam will report

to Louisa Moger, group head of recruitment, while Matchett will report

to Mark Driscoll, group head of education. The Independent has also

promoted Nicky Maclean from senior sales executive in the Travel

Territory to agency sales executive. Maclean has worked at the paper for

16 months.





Mollin Publishing has promoted Matt Warren to the position of ad manager

across the company’s two health and fitness titles Men’s Fitness and

Shape. Within the group, Louise Adkin has been promoted from sales

executive to senior sales executive and Annette Hennessey joins the team

as a sales executive.





Sarah Vickery has been appointed business development director of Emap

Digital. Vickery has been finance director of the Emap Elan network for

the past four years. Before that she worked for ICI and Glaxo in similar

roles.





The Woolwich has recruited Helen Masters as its senior campaign manager.

In the newly created role, Masters will be responsible for the bank’s

pounds 3.3 million annual advertising budget and will report to head of

group marketing Paul Birkett. Masters joins the Woolwich from Red

Square.
