Attic Futura has promoted Bridget Marrison to group publisher. She
moves from her role as publisher of Shine and Real Health and Beauty,
and assumes responsibility for TV Hits, Boyzone and special projects, as
well as her existing titles. Marrison joined Attic Futura from Dennis
Publishing in February to run the launch of Shine. The day-to-day
publishing responsibility for TV Hits will go to Rimi Atwal, who has
been made associate publisher. Atwal was previously product manager for
Shine and Real Health and Beauty.
Jane Ostler, one of MindShare Digital’s directors, is leaving to launch
her own new-media venture. Details of the new company are still unknown.
Ostler has been at MindShare since its launch in 1997, when she joined
the from The Network.
IPC Southbank has appointed Elaine Foran publisher of its relaunched
style magazine Nova. Foran has been with IPC’s rival Emap Elan since
1992, most recently as international publisher, having joined the
company as advertisement director of New Woman. She was promoted to
joint ad director for Elle and New Woman in 1993. Since then she has
been publisher of Elle before becoming group publisher of Elle and
Red.
Emap Elan has promoted fashion ad manager Jane Stevens to the position
of international fashion ad director across all the glossy titles.
Stevens has been at Elan in her present role for two years. A fashion ad
manager is now being sought to handle UK fashion business for the
group.
Independent Digital has appointed Gary Knapton to the role of
sponsorship executive. Knapton moves to his new position from Loaded,
where he was promotions and advertorials executive. Knapton will report
to Richard Lee, who heads the sponsorship and e-commerce team.
MBS Media is continuing its graduate recruitment drive. Emma Smith, Jane
Oliver, Sharon Boddie, Rob Bellass and Matthew Worrall are the latest
additions to the press buying team. They have all been hired as
planner/buyers.
AP Information Services, the business directory and database publisher,
has taken on James Howard as sales and marketing manager. Howard joins
from Intertec Publishing where he was associate publisher for a group of
five building and construction magazines. He previously spent ten years
at Miller Freeman, where he was sales manager on Manufacturing Chemist
and developed the IT side of the business. He was also a sales executive
on Building Design and Catering magazines.
Western International Media has hired Sylvia Benaim to be the head of
the planning department it has created jointly with Lowe Direct. Benaim
joins the joint venture from Smith Bundy Carlson, where she was media
director.
Chrysalis radio has appointed Mary Gopsill managing director of
Chrysalis Radio Online. Gopsill joins Chrysalis from media strategy
consultant Hydra, where she was a senior adviser in charge of strategy
and change projects. Her new role will be to develop the Heart and
Galaxy radio brands online.
