Metro, the free morning newspaper, has recruited Linda Grant, ad director of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail. Grant joined the Scottish titles in January to take charge of national sales. She previously worked for the Newspaper Society and Newsquest. At Metro, Grant will assume the new role of head of planning.

IPC Electric has appointed a new operations director. Kevin Kerrigan is

currently sales and marketing director for Pan European Publishing, the

Belgian subsidiary of Reed Elsevier. In his new role, Kerrigan will

report to managing director Rene Carayol.





Following the reorganisation of its ad sales operation (Media Business,

1 November), Emap Metro has made several promotions. Danny Flower, ad

manager for Q, Graham Tottle, ad manager for Heat, Michelle Gardiner, ad

manager for Empire, and Kerry Moffat, fashion manager, all become

account directors. Sarah Jacombs, ad manager for The Face and Arena,

becomes ad director for music and film titles. Ann Collins, group head,

becomes ad director for men’s and fashion titles. Giles Abbott, senior

sales executive, takes Jacombs’ role as ad manager for The Face and

Arena. Emap Metro has also taken on two new faces. Cinnamon MacPhail,

who joins from BBJ, becomes senior sales executive, and Catherine

Knowles is appointed as sales executive for the entertainment team.





Granada Mediasales has recruited Adrian Richmond as sales manager.

Richmond joins from Flextech where he was communications manager.

Granada has also made three promotions. Steve Jordan moves from account

manager to account controller, senior sales executive Sheila Gardener

becomes sales manager, and Louise Costello moves from sales executive to

take Gardener’s old role.





Sam Vernon, account manager across Emap’s parenting titles, is moving to

the National Magazine Company. He takes on a new position as senior

sales executive on Good Housekeeping.





Opus has made two changes to its sponsorship team. Dominic Barker, GWR

sponsorship group head, switches roles to become sponsorship group head

of Classic FM. He replaces Karen Morris, who has moved to Premiere.

Barker is yet to be replaced. Opus has also recruited Phil Beal as GWR

sponsorship and promotions executive. He joins from the Cable

Advertising Sales Company.





Clickmusic, the portal for UK music, has appointed Joseph Morden as

sales manager. Morden was previously a senior sales executive at Loot

Group.





BBJ Media has promoted Matthew Platts to deputy broadcast director.

Platts will report to director Chris Boothby.





Reed Computer Group has promoted Jill Harrington, key accounts manager

on Computer Weekly, to the position of advertisement manager for the

magazine. Harrington, who has spent 15 years at Reed, replaces Richard

Strom, who is running a new corporate sales division designed to service

Reed Computer Group’s major advertisers (Media Business, 18 October).
