Starcom Motive has poached Pascal Vanhaeren from CIA Medianetwork International to be its media manager. Vanhaeren will handle the Motorola, Sportal, Hoverspeed and Marlboro Classics accounts, reporting to regional business director Ian Clark. At CIA he handled Nike. His previous employers include Universal McCann London and Universal Media in Brussels.

G&J has announced a raft of appointments. Harriet Alder has joined Best

as a sales executive from IPC’s New Eden. Fiona Cuff joins Prima Baby as

a sales executive from IPC classified. Anne Best has also joined Prima

Baby as a sales executive from the National Magazine Company’s

classified department. Mark Burborough leaves Express Newspapers to join

Focus as a sales executive. Katie Hampson joins Best as a sales

executive from Blue Moon Publishing’s Credit Today. She previously

worked in The Guardian’s classified department. Kate Wilson joins G&J’s

client services department as promotions executive from IPC, where she

sold classified on Wedding & Home.





TSMSi is continuing to beef up its sales department. It has recruited

Janine Iceton from Teletext, who joins as a sales executive. In the past

six months, TSMSi has hired two sales staff and made three internal

promotions.





Charlotte Hollingshead has been appointed publisher of CFO Europe, the

monthly magazine produced by the The Economist Group. She replaces

Martin Giles, who becomes director of Economist Enterprises.

Hollingshead joined The Economist’s UK ad team in 1992. In 1998 she

joined CFO Europe’s launch team as ad director and most recently worked

as director of sales and enterprises.





Adlink has announced two new members of its UK sales team. Jonathan

Ellis joins as a senior sales executive from CityScreen, the Reuters

online magazine where he had worked since December 1998. Robi Basu joins

as a sales assistant from Future Publishing, where he worked as a sales

executive on Future’s internet portfolio.





The Independent and Independent on Sunday have appointed Trish Wadley

marketing director. She will be responsible for all marketing activity

across the two titles and will report to Stephen Miron, commercial

director. Wadley joins from Thomson Financial, where she was director of

marketing and communications for Europe.





Virgin Radio has recruited Dave McMorrow as a senior sales executive.

McMorrow joined Virgin on 3 July and had previously worked as a sales

executive at Channel 5. He had been at Channel 5 since its launch.

McMorrow started his career in 1993 at LWT as an assistant, and was

later promoted to sales executive at the now defunct Laser sales.





Impact sales has announced a series of promotions. Rebecca Blacker,

Darren Coomansingh and Sean Rigby have all been promoted from sales

assistants to planners. Blacker will work on the ILR stations, while

Coomansingh and Rigby will work on Talk Sport, reporting to account

manager Nick Horne.
