Associated Newspapers’ move to turn its salespeople into
planner/sellers and to merge the Metro and Evening Standard sales teams
(Campaign Media Business, 4 October), has prompted three appointments.
Maxine Rose, most recently head of press at Media Audits, but formerly
ad manager at The Scotsman, joins the team as head of client direct
retail. Stephen Lafferty, formerly a member of the agency sales team,
moves to become brand manager of Hot Tickets, and Louise Walker, who has
been working across all the titles, becomes fashion brand manager at ES
magazine.
James Watson has joined Haymarket Publishing’s global title F1 Racing as
assistant advertisement manager. Watson, who was previously senior ad
executive at the new-media legal publisher Mondaq, will handle
international sponsorship for the magazine. Haymarket has also recruited
Adam Powell as senior ad executive for F1 Racing from Cable & Wireless.
Both Watson and Powell report to commercial director Tim Bulley.
Michael Nicholson has left Quantum Publishing’s Pub Food magazine to
join Miller Freeman as group advertisement executive on Chemist &
Druggist, OTC and Community Pharmacy.
Flextech sales manager Chris Maples has jumped ship to Emap on Air.
Maples, who joins the radio company as account manager, previously
worked at Channel 4 and UK Gold. Emap on Air now has 110 employees based
in London and the North.
Sarah Williams has become sales development manager at Company magazine.
Williams joins Company from National Magazine Company stablemate Harpers
& Queen where she was senior sales executive. From outside NatMags, Anna
Jackson, currently part of the classified sales team at IPC’s Home
Interest, is to join Company on 18 October as a member of the display
sales team. Kerri-Ann Smith also joins Company as senior sales
executive. Smith was formerly a sales executive on Emap’s parenting
titles.
Mediacom TMB Outdoor has recruited Outdoor Connection’s account manager
Jennifer Hewitt as account director. Hewitt’s clients will include
Volkswagen and Direct Line.
Matt Wells, currently classified ad manager on Haymarket’s Human
Resources magazine has taken a new role as a new-media recruitment
consultant at Price Jamieson. ’It’s such a rapidly expanding sector, I
think this is too good an opportunity to miss,’ he said. He has yet to
be replaced.
Starcom, the media wing of Leo Burnett, has recruited Gavin Reeder as a
strategic planner. Reeder started out at TSMS in 1996 before joining
Austin West Media as a planner/buyer in 1998. His clients at Austin West
Media included Nintendo, Brittany Ferries and Auto Trader. At Starcom,
Reeder will cover the Heinz and Proctor & Gamble accounts.
Anita Stromovic, account director at Soho PR, is set to leave the
company. Stromovic, who was the sole publicist for Emap for ten years,
plans to move to the US to set up her own PR company, Soho Inc.
