Leeds-based Brilliant, the largest media buying agency outside
London, has recruited Julian Forgaard as an account director. Forgaard
moves to Brilliant after having spent seven years at Target Advertising.
Before that he worked at 20:20 Media in London. David Moutrie, managing
director of Brilliant, has predicted the company’s client bookings will
reach pounds 100 million over the next year.
Emap Elan has promoted Helen Porter from senior sales executive to group
advertisement manager on Red and Escape Routes. Before her move to Elan,
Porter was advertisement manager on TV Quick at The Publishing
Taxi Media has hired David Anderson as an account executive. Anderson
joins the company from The Market Tiers, the full-service radio
consultancy, where he spent a year and a half as account manager. He
previously worked at Emap Business.
IPC Connect has appointed Allison Ganley publisher of Chat, Woman’s Realm
and Woman’s Weekly. Ganley is currently associate publisher of IPC’s
equestrian titles, Horse and Hound, Horse Exchange and Course. She joined
the company in 1995 as a circulation executive. In a further move, Oswin
Grady joins Ganley as associate publisher working across the portfolio.
Grady joins Connect from SouthBank, where he is business development
executive on Homes & Gardens, Country Homes & Interiors and Beautiful
The Regional Press Club has elected Sue Bebber its new chairman. Bebber,
national sales director of Newsquest Media Sales, has worked in the
regional press for 15 years. She succeeds the outgoing chairman Cathy
Richards of Zenith Media. The Regional Press Club provides a forum for the
promotion of the regional press.
Portland Outdoor Advertising has set up a team dedicated to handling
six-sheets and transport buying. The specialist division will be staffed
by Lisa Richards, who becomes buying manager, and Erin Fletcher, who has
been promoted from office junior to buying trainee. Portland has also
promoted David Brink to the role of junior account manager.
Fiona Macar has jumped ship from Emap to Gruner & Jahr. At G&J she takes
up her new role as publishing director of Prima, Prima Baby and special
projects. Macar was formerly publishing director of Top Sante, Slimming,
Here’s Health, Traditional Health and Period Living.
Alison Warburton has been promoted to sales manager at Virgin Net. In her
new role she will head a team of five sales staff. Warburton began her
career at The Daily Telegraph as a sales executive and joined the Virgin
Net sales team in April as a senior sales executive. She will report to
Alex Dale, Virgin Net’s publisher.
Emap Elan Network has hired Phil Bembridge as publisher of Arena, The
Face and Arena Homme Plus. Bembridge joins Elan from his current
position as publishing director of Sleaze Nation.
