Emap On Air's Magic 105.4, replacing Tracy George who moves to Radio
City as sales director. Rory Bett has joined Magic as its promotions
manager, having spent three years at Capital Radio in sales and
HHCL & Partners has appointed four new partners - Sue Harrison becomes
head of environment marketing; Sid McGrath, head of planning; Crispin
Jamieson, account director and Simon Manchipp, senior designer.
Fiona Punter has joined Romsey Publishing Group as group advertisement
manager for The English Garden, Heritage and Realm magazines. Romsey has
also recruited Darren Rose-Neale as advertisement manager for Garden
Ideas, which is to increase its frequency from bi-monthly to monthly
from January 2000.
Esquire's advertisement director Matt Hayes is to join National Magazine
Company stablemate Company as advertisement director, where he replaces
Judith Secombe following her appointment to group advertising director
of the Good Housekeeping group. Miles Lewis, who moves from his present
position as business development manager, will fill Hayes' post at
Esquire from 4 October.
IPC Music & Sport has recruited Will Watt as marketing manager for NME
and Melody Maker. Watt joins from Legas Delaney where he was account
manager for Adidas Europe and previously worked on the Daewoo and
News International has hired Ian Weston as its director of corporate
development, with a view to increasing buying activity in the areas of
new-media and consumer press. Weston was previously a consultant with
the Boston Consulting Group.
Ian Redman, planning director at John Ayling & Associates, has been
recruited by BMP OMD to take control of its pounds 40 million Boots
account. The move comes within days of the agency winning Granada
Group's G-Wizz internet service provider account, worth pounds 4
John McCann has taken over from Desmond Smyth as managing director of
Ulster TV. McCann, the director and general manager, assumed his new
role on 1 October. Smyth is to remain a director of the company until
the end of the year.

Cosmopolitan has appointed Louise Collier exhibition sales manager for
the Cosmopolitan Show. Collier moves from Interactive Information
Services where she was senior group marketing manager.
Jim Latham, former World Cup sponsorship director of General Motors
Europe, which had a yearly promotional spend of pounds 30 million, has
joined 141 Communications as director of sponsorship. 141 Communications
is a subsidiary of Bates.
