Another magazine dedicated to WAP telecommunications, WAP World,

makes its debut on 4 August.

The new magazine comes from NetWorks - the Harrogate based publisher of

internet guides such as The Complete Beginners Guide to the

Internet.

WAP World, a 68-page bi-monthly, launches with a distribution of 35,000

through Comag. It will have a cover price of pounds 3.95 and is set to

compete with Future’s WAP, which launches on 20 July (Media Business, 19

June).

Ad sales are being handled by Manchester independent Media Sales

Network.

The 20-strong sales team also handles G&J’s advertising business outside

the M25. Other clients include the Scottish Media Group, Redwood and

Atlantic 252.

MSN managing director Robert Johnstone said WAP World would be more

instructional and less technical than Future’s WAP.

Advertising opportunities are being pitched directly to clients such as

Nokia, Motorola, Orange, BT Cellnet and Carphone Warehouse.

Advertisers in the magazine are being offered a free presence on the

accompanying WAP World website, with links to their own site.
