Mudge takes charge of £34m AA account at Manning Gottlieb

Manning Gottlieb OMD has hired Ron Mudge, the former media director of Saatchi & Saatchi, to run its AA account.

Mudge joined Manning Gottlieb this week. He replaces Jeremy Tester, who has left to become the marketing director at Holmes Place.

At Manning Gottlieb, Mudge will have overall responsibility for a team of 12 people on the business. The agency won the £34 million account last November.

Mudge was the media director at Saatchis between 1998 and 2001. After the closure of the department, he joined Walker Media as a managing partner on its Dixons Group and Freeserve business. He left last October.

In a career spanning 21 years, Mudge has worked at several agencies including The Media Centre. He first joined Saatchis in 1995, before leaving briefly to take the role of communications director at DMB&B. He returned to Saatchis in the more senior media director role.

Alison Wright, the managing director of Manning Gottlieb OMD, said: "Ron's all-round media experience makes him the perfect candidate to run a large account such as the AA. He combines outstanding strategic ability with a practical, hands-on approach."
