BMP DDB has promoted Jorian Murray, the account director on the
Volkswagen account, to head of account management.
The appointment resolves a tussle for Murray, who was offered a senior
role at WCRS to replace Simon Toaldo, its marketing director. Toaldo is
leaving to become the managing director of Rapier Stead & Bowden.
Chris Powell, the chief executive of BMP, said: ’Although the timing has
been brought forward, Jorian was always going to be offered this job. He
has emerged as an excellent role model. If we took a vote across the
agency he would be everyone’s first choice for the post.’
Murray joined BMP in 1992 as an account director on VW and was promoted
to the board in 1993. He started his advertising career at Publicis in
1988, and was promoted to the board in 1990.
Philippa Roberts, an account director, will become Murray’s deputy at
BMP.
Peter Clay, who has been the agency’s head of account management for the
past three years, will become assistant managing director. Powell wants
Clay to broaden his management experience and take a prominent role in
new-business pitches.
Clay said: ’I have created a better balance between the departments and
the strength of account management affects the productivity of the
creative and traffic departments. But it is difficult to be effective as
head of account management for more than three years.’
