- Nabisco has dropped McCann-Erickson from its US agency roster and in its place appointed J. Walter Thompson USA for the first time, with Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide taking on additional business.
J.Walter Thompson has been appointed to handle the company's $30 million range of crackers, including brands such as Ritz, Triscuit, Wheat Thins, Air Crisps, and Premium crackers. FCB has been awarded Nabisco's A1 steak sauce range estimated to be worth $8 million.
Both accounts were previously handled McCann-Erickson. No other agencies are thought to have been involved in the review and billings were not disclosed.
James M. Kilts, president and chief executive officer of Nabisco, said: "This new partnership with J. Walter Thompson and expanded relationship with Foote, Cone & Belding will be important in our overall effort to chart new directions and strategies for some of the best-known and best-loved brands in America." Kilts added that during its tenure McCann-Erickson had created several highly successful campaigns and made many important contributions to the brands.
