BMP DDB has won the advertising account for the UK's
biggest-selling women's magazine, Cosmopolitan, owned by The National
Magazine Company.
The appointment, made by Jan Adcock, the group publishing director at
NatMags, comes as Cosmopolitan gears up for its 30th birthday in March
next year. It is expected that BMP will spearhead a marketing drive for
the magazine toward this date.
Cosmopolitan is facing stiff competition from Conde Nast's launch title,
Glamour. The circulations for the titles are almost identical. Glamour
is backed with TV advertising through J. Walter Thompson.
BMP joined the NatMags roster when it won the business for Best in
September.
A NatMags spokeswoman said: "We haven't appointed anyone to anything
yet. We're talking to a lot of agencies at present."
No-one at BMP was available for comment.
