NatMags poaches Highbury's Douglas to replace Granby

LONDON - The National Magazine Company, publisher of Company, Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Harpers & Queen, has hired Sharon Douglas from Highbury House Communications as director of consumer sales and marketing.

Douglas takes over from Martin Granby, a 20-year veteran of NatMags, who leaves in January to start a new life with his family in Israel.

Granby, a board director, was promoted to the role from circulation director in 2000, taking responsibility for all magazine sales as part of a senior management shake-up that saw Duncan Edwards take over as managing director at the company.

Edwards said: "[Douglas] has great experience in the area of circulation and will bring enormous passion and energy to the business."

Douglas has been in her latest role of circulation sales director at Highbury House since 2002. Prior to that, she was at Feelgood Publications as deputy managing director and worked at Mirror Group in a number of roles, including group circulation sales development director in 1998. She left Mirror Group in 1999.

As part of the senior management team at NatMags, her main responsibilities will consist of newsstand, subscription sales and consumer marketing, and she will join the board of distribution firm Comag.
