Frazer Lee is not your average surfer. Professional worker by day
and writer/film director/vampire breeder by night, Lee is definitely one
of Yahoo!'s more colourful staffers.
"He's certainly a character," Andy Williams, the head of surfing at
Yahoo!
UK & Ireland, says. And Lee, who joined Yahoo! last April, fast carved
himself out as an individual with a particularly healthy interest in the
twilight zone. "I started getting into horror novels when I learnt to
read," Lee says. "Yes, he's a bit of a gothic person," Williams
understates.
Lee's MA in screenwriting has left him with what can only be described
as a distinct bent for horror movies. And his thesis on "The body horror
film genre" clearly stood him in good stead for his next starring role
at the London Dungeon. While others chose the safety of the office, Lee
smirked in the face of such normality and opted to dress up as Count
Dreadlockula. "I got paid to jump out and scare the life out of some
poor punter," he reminisces fondly. "He still does," Williams
retorts.
On joining Yahoo!, Lee decided to introduce himself to his fellow
comrades by penning: "Born in Transylvania in 1371, I spent my formative
years scaring villagers and trying desperately to assume the form of a
bat. Unfortunately, my attempts failed."
Still, Lee managed to find some partners with a suitably ghoulish
interest in horror to form a film production company, Robber Baron
Productions.
One of their films, On Edge, is your usual bubble gum comedy about a
business man who goes to the dentist without an appointment, wanders off
bored and meets with rather more surgery than he'd intended.
And wouldn't you know it, Doug Bradley, known to horror fans as Pinhead
in the Hellraiser movies, chose to be in the film. Expect more
ghoulishness from Lee coming to a screen near you soon.
