New Millenium Experience launches website to preview the Dome

The New Millenium Experience Company and Intel have launched an architecturally-accurate 3D version of the Millenium Dome on its web site at www.dome2000.co.uk. Visitors to the virtual dome site will be able to fly over it in a helicopter, sail down the Thames and walk around the outside of the building, gaining a realistic impression of the size of the dome in comparison to its surrounding environment. Peter Mandelson, the trade and industry secretary, said: "The great power of virtual reality means people can experience through the internet what others will experience in practice. Once you've experienced the dome in virtuual reality people will want to go and see it, experience it and have fun in it themselves."
