David Pattison, the chief executive of New PHD, is to be the

chairman of the third Campaign Media Awards, heading a prestigious jury

of media agency chiefs, media owners and advertisers who will be judging

the finest examples of media agency and media sales creativity to have

emerged over the past 12 months.

The Campaign Media Awards are designed to reflect the growing stature of

media at the heart of communications and the vital role that media

agencies are now playing in driving their clients’ business.

But this year’s awards have been expanded to reflect the growing

influence that media owners can have on creating innovative media

strategies for advertisers. Media fragmentation continues to foster

world-class ideas in the sales arena, driving smart strategic thinking,

and for this year’s awards four new categories have been introduced to

reward creativity in media sales.

All of the awards aim to recognise and reward campaigns where media made

a difference, championing creative media strategies and raising the

status of media’s contribution to marketing.

Mark Cranmer, the chief executive of Starcom Europe, whose UK agency

took five of last year’s awards, said the awards were the industry

benchmark for media excellence.

’They are extremely important as the contribution of media expertise

gathers pace in the marketing mix, particularly as the focus of these

awards is where media has made a crucial strategic and creative

difference, rather than merely played an effective logistic role,’ he

added.

Entry forms for the awards are now available and the deadline for

entries is 18 August. Judging takes place in September and the awards

will be presented at a gala evening in the autumn. For further details,
