New planning unit put in place at MEC

Mediaedge:cia has created a new planning unit in a bid to drive greater insight and creativity across the agency.

Led by the chief strategy officer, Stuart Sullivan-Martin, the six-strong team includes four new recruits, who will become strategy directors alongside the current strategy director, Verica Djurdjevic.

The signings are Pete Kemp, a former MEC planner, who joined Naked Communications last year; Ian Edwards, a senior planner from Carat; Lucy Davis, a strategist from JWT in New York; and Stuart Bowden, who joined the agency recently to run the BT planning business.

Each strategy director will consult across MEC clients, work with planners and media owners, and help run the agency's training programmes.

Sullivan-Martin said: "This is about driving high-level communications planning and thinking, starting with the business story and ending with a full communications strategy. The ambition is also for this group to be the glue that brings together all the specialist divisions."
