- Douglas McArthur, chief executive of the Radio Advertising Bureau, and Sally Cartright, publisher of Hello! and former chairman of the Periodicals Publishers Association, were among those recognised in the New Year's Honours List.

Both received OBEs in the list, which was published on December 30.

McArthur said: "I am pleased and honoured, but it is an honour I feel I have to share with the RAB team and the radio industry supporters of the RAB. Who would have thought in 1992, when we started, that the "two per cent medium" would reach a status where the PM's office would think it worth recognising?"

Cartright said: "I'm obviously delighted and thrilled. It's the first time the ex-chairman of the PPA has been recognised. It couldn't have come at a better time. The award shows the closer ties the PPA is building with publishers and newspapers."
