Will Awdry, the star copywriter who left Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 1994
after almost ten years, has been lured back to his former agency.
Awdry, who was given the new post of head of copy at Leagas Delaney,
together with a seat on the board, is returning to BBH to partner the
art director, Rosie Arnold, whom he partnered during his first spell at
Awdry, 35, said: ‘I left BBH because I felt I needed shaking up a bit.
After almost ten years in one agency it’s possible to become a bit
institutionalised. However, my time at Leagas Delaney showed me that
having a head of copy is not necessary when you have the best copywriter
in the world running the place.’
He continued: ‘Leaving Leagas Delaney after just over a year feels a bit
like leaving a party at 8.30pm. However, I’m delighted that BBH has
asked me back. The agency has some very exciting plans in place and I’m
delighted to come and help spread the BBH culture.’
Awdry wrote some of BBH’s most acclaimed work, including ‘procession’
for Levi’s and ‘feel me’ for Haagen-Dazs.
