Carlton Cable and Satellite Sales has scooped its first satellite TV sales account, handling airtime sales for the recently launched Weather Channel.

sales account, handling airtime sales for the recently launched Weather

Channel.



Carlton won the account last month after competing with Laser Satellite

and Cable. It is preparing to launch the channel to the advertising

industry.



The channel, owned by Landmark Communications, merged with the Weather

Network to form a single 24-hour service, available nationally to BSkyB

users and regionally on cable networks.



Because of the complexities of the merger, the Weather Channel has not

been selling advertising airtime since its launch last month.



David Sanderson, the sales director of Carlton Cable and Satellite

Sales, said the Weather Channel fitted well with the rest of Carlton’s

channel portfolio, which includes Live TV, the Box and Carlton Select.



Sanderson said: ‘This channel will perform well among light viewers and

ABC1s.’
