Channel 5 has kicked off a search for two agencies to share its pounds
10 million advertising budget as it prepares for its launch at the
beginning of next year.
A decision will be made within the next few weeks on the agency to
handle the fledgling channel’s first advertising task - the launch of
its retuning programme.
A second agency will be recruited later in the year to work on the
launch advertising campaign, which will provide the core branding
message for the channel.
Channel 5’s marketing director, David Brook, said that he has had
informal discussions with a number of shops about the retuning account,
but added that he had not yet compiled a shortlist for it.
‘It is a complex communications operation, and logistical resource is
key,’ Brook commented.
Saatchi and Saatchi and Ammirati Puris Lintas are known to be among the
agencies chasing the accounts. TMD Carat has the media planning and
buying for the channel (Campaign, last week).
