Jordan and Sons, the business services company whose activities range

from trademark registration to checking out acquisition targets for

client companies, has appointed its first advertising agency in its 132-

year history.

The Communications in Business group has beaten two other shops to the

pounds 1 million task of raising Jordan’s profile and warding off

growing competition.

Founded to handle the registration requirements of new companies,

Jordan’s activities currently include advising on offshore registration

for tax purposes, carrying out searches for estate agents and local

authorities, and publishing and producing software packages for

accountants.

But threats to its business have grown with the rise of large

consultancy groups, such as Arthur Andersen, which have built up their

own in-house resources.

The agency’s brief is to make Jordan’s existing customers aware of the

breadth of its services and expertise.

Stuart Duncan, chairman of CIB, said: ‘We’ve used Jordan and Sons for

eight years to register trademarks for our clients, but it’s only now

that we’ve come to appreciate the scale of its operation.’
