BMP DDB has created a pounds 2.5 million claymation campaign for
Quavers, introducing the characters of Quentin and the Quaverhead
Walkers Snack Foods, the owner of Quavers, is repositioning the brand as
a ‘light, low-guilt’ snack for parents and children to eat between
The brightly-coloured ads, created by Aardman Animations, are
predominantly in the Quavers’ brand colours of yellow and green. The
first 30-second commercial goes on air on 11 April, featuring the clay
character, Quentin, his family and a ‘floating’ Quaver in a lighthearted
story set against a series of kaleidoscopic sets.
A different ten-second ad will launch the Tangy Tomato flavour Quavers.
In the second ad, Quentin is blown a kiss by a neighbour and,
embarrassed, becomes redder and redder until his head turns into a very
Carol Robertson, the brand manager for Quavers, said: ‘The new
characters epitomise Quavers’ quirky brand image. We believe that the
subtleties captured in this type of animation will make Quentin a hit
with parents and children.’
BMP won the Quavers account from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO a year ago on
the back of BMP’s successful campaign for Walkers Crisps, featuring the
football star, Gary Lineker.
