Andy Wilson, the award-winning director of the ITV series, Cracker, has
teamed up with two feature film directors to form a new commercials
production company.
Wilson has joined forces with Paul Anderson, director of the Hollywood
blockbuster, Mortal Kombat, and Peter Capaldi, the Scottish actor and
director of the Oscar-winning short, Franz Kafka - it’s a Wonderful
Life, to launch Impossible Impact.
The company, which opened for business last week, will combine Wilson’s
experience in drama and comedy with the action sequence forte of
Anderson and his producer, Jeremy Bolt.
The pair got together when the Los Angeles-based Anderson and Bolt
worked with Wilson and his producer, Miles Johnson, on a new feature
film, Lying Doggo.
Wilson explained: ‘Paul mentioned he was very interested in getting
involved in the UK commercials scene. He is exceptionally talented in
special effects, and I thought that because I am good at dialogue we
would complement one another.’
Anderson has never worked in commercials, but Wilson already has
significant experience, with the Independent Television Commission’s
commercials on bad language to his credit as well as Do It All’s latest
ads.
Wilson used to work through Great Guns but, in August, he launched his
own company, Impossible Films, which will now be used solely for his
features work.
Anderson’s independent film work has been through his own company,
Impact, and it was by a merger of Impact with Impossible that the new
company was born.
