Delaney Fletcher Bozell is tipped to carry off the task of relaunching
Hush Puppies in the UK after the company’s repurchase by Wolverine, its
US-based creator.
No-one from the agency was available for comment, but sources close to
Hush Puppies said that Delaney Fletcher had emerged victorious from a
head to head with the former incumbent in the UK, Young and Rubicam.
Media is expected to move from Mediapolis to 20/20 Media, Delaney
Fletcher’s joint venture with CIA Medianetwork.
The win ends a protracted series of meetings held between Hush Puppies’
managing director, David Rist, and the two agencies after Wolverine
bought the Hush Puppies wholesale operations from Sears in August.
Y&R has produced award-winning ads for Hush Puppies, but the brand is
still regarded as middle-aged. The account was worth pounds 300,000 last
year, according to Register-MEAL, but is expected to rise to pounds 1.5
million.
In the US it has become a cult brand under the stewardship of Bozell,
the group that owns Delaney Fletcher.
