Stan Park has been appointed as the commercial director of CLT UK Radio,
just weeks after quitting as managing director of the now defunct
Independent Radio Sales.
Park will take up the post immediately and join the CLT board once it
has been finalised.
His brief is to oversee sales for CLT’s two main brands, Talk Radio UK
and Atlantic 252, although he denies the two sales teams will be merged.
‘It is not my role to set up sales houses - there are clear and defined
policies for each station,’ Park commented.
However, sources insist that CLT’s long-term aim is to pool the sales
functions for its two biggest brands.
Park said: ‘What excites me is the opportunity to build something from
scratch. I will be running all commercial activities. I will be
reviewing Atlantic and Talk and seeing how the sales teams operate. I’ll
be looking at how to improve them and take them forward.’
CLT announced it was seeking a commercial director and a managing
director last month as part of a drive to strengthen the value of its
two core brands (Campaign, 15 March).
The creation of a new board will be one of the final measures to beef up
the CLT management team. It will comprise the managing director, Travis
Baxter, the chairman, Craig Pearman, Park, and two financial people -
yet to be confirmed.
An announcement is expected in the next two months regarding the
managing director’s role. It is widely believed that the appointee will
come from the client side.
